Foreign Countries Library Cooperation Library Planning Library Services Library Standards Long Range Planning Policy Formation Program Effectiveness Program Evaluation Special Libraries State Departments of Education User Needs (Information) User Satisfaction (Information) The report provides an overview of the findings, analysis, and conclusions of the external evaluation of the effectiveness of Alberta Education Library Services conducted between September 1985 and March 1986 under the guidance of the Library Services Evaluation Steering Committee (Phase 2 of the evaluation and planning process initiated in 1985 to clarify the future role and direction of the library services). The purpose of the study was to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the library services program and to provide guidance to the interdivisional steering committee regarding key delivery and service issues to be considered in developing the long-term plan for library services (Phase 3). The study methodology, study findings, a special library model, evaluation of library services, conclusions of the study, and guidelines for Phase 3 are briefly summarized. (KM)
