Lessons plans are organized into sections addressing the following subject areas: language arts and foreign language, reading, mathematics, science, social studies, health and physical education, special education, and fine arts and vocational education. Each lesson plan contains some or all of the following: subject area(s) addressed, unit(s) in which the activity could be integrated effectively, objectives, procedures for infusing the activity into the existing curriculum, resources and materials needed to complete the activity, and comments on use/suggestions for future use. The individual lesson plans describe a variety of activities provided, including completing written exercises, listening to guest speakers, taking field trips, using newspapers and magazines, participating in a spelling bee, constructing posters, staging incidents and having other students write newspaper articles describing them, writing reports and letters, and doing library research.
