Recommended titles are categorized as fiction (general fiction, mystery and horror, science fiction, classics, and folklore) and nonfiction (groupings in a very general Dewey subject classification). Title entries provide this information: title; author; publisher, shortened; edition; date of publication or copyright; last numbered page of book; net price for single copy, billed; International Standard Book Number (ISBN), full or abbreviated, or Books in Print number; series; print components of possible interest to public libraries (workbook, teacher's guide, answer key); comments (annotation); and reading level. Other contents include a recommendation for a "core" collection; series recommendations and comments; an annotated list of leisure reading available from the juvenile collections of most large public libraries; recommended books for the tutor, suggested reading for librarians, and general readings on literacy; title and (nonfiction) subject indexes; and publishers' addresses.
