Items covered in the agreement include: definitions and unit recognition; faculty statutes and faculty policy series; the relationship between the AAUP and the university; appointment, reappointment, promotion, and tenure; working conditions; fringe benefits; compensation; reduction in force of faculty as a consequence of curricular curtailment or financial exigency; no strike, work stoppage, or lockout; grievance and arbitration procedure; merger or acquisition; released time; union security and checkoff; separability; interest succession; nondiscrimination; personnel files; affirmative action committee; affirmation of full disclosure; past practices; department heads; and adjunct faculty and special faculty status. Appendices include: (1) information on New College Teaching Fellows, including teaching load, compensation, and appointment; (2) the work schedule of full-time and adjunct library faculty; (3) the work schedule and teaching load of faculty at the Institute of Applied Social Science; and (4) the memorandum of understanding between the university and the AAUP.
