Specific areas covered include dictionaries, encyclopedias, Library of Congress subject headings, the online catalog LIAS (Library Information Access System), book review indexes, biographies, the Library of Congress classification system, periodical indexes, the periodical holdings list, newspaper indexes, almanacs and statistical sources, government documents, formats for citing materials in bibliographies, and a checklist for developing a search strategy. Floor plans and examples of index entries and online catalog displays are included. Student assignments at the end of each section have been updated. (KM) |
