- Legal Information Resources: A Guide for Maryland Libraries. Miller, Michael S., Ed. Annotated Bibliographies Federal Legislation Laws Library Role Public Libraries Reference Materials Reference Services Referral Resource Materials State Legislation User Needs (Information) This guidebook and annotated bibliography is designed to provide a basic listing of sources of state (Maryland), federal, and some general law for the non-law library community, and to offer some insight into the suggested approaches for dealing with legal reference inquiries. Listings of contributors and members of the Task Force on Improving Access to Law in Libraries are provided, and a general discussion of the legal reference process considers the role of the reference librarian in dealing with legal inquiries. The annotated bibliography includes primary sources of Maryland law, secondary sources of Maryland law, primary sources of federal law, and general law indices and reference titles. Additional material includes a table of governmental entities and their work by product, a sources chart for Maryland law questions, a discussion of the formats for updating legal materials, a listing of telephone referrals, and a checklist of publishers. The task force is a joint committee of the Law Library of Maryland and the Maryland Library Association. (KM)
