contents A Manual for Implementation of ABC Video Duplication Projects. Hill, Joseph, Ed. Contracts Film Libraries Guidelines Library Acquisition Videotape Recordings The ABC (Appalachian BOCES Consortium) consists of 10 BOCES (Boards of Cooperative Educational Services) which serve the 14 southern counties of New York State designated as Appalachia. Each year since 1974, the ABC has participated in regional video duplication projects, which have yielded a total of nearly 4,000 video titles. The complexity of these projects, which include contractual obligations by both distributors and ABC members, requires adherence to a standard set of procedures. Offered for use by other consortia, this manual provides a set of guidelines designed to lead a project chairperson through all of the steps that need to be followed to achieve successful completion of a videotape duplication project. The 11 steps in the process, which are not necessarily listed in sequence since several could be ongoing concurrently, are: (1) Identify Project, (2) Negotiations, (3) Selection of Titles, (4) Contract, (5) Logistics, (6) Final Approval, (7) Disposition of 16mm Prints/Video Masters, (8) ABC Project Form, (9) Annotations, (10) Certification of Erasure, and (11) Summary. Several forms used by ABC including video duplication rights, request for proposal, member survey, video licensing agreement, and certificate of erasure are appended. (MES)
