A concise summary of related issues and trends discusses the utilization of local cost data versus published data found in the "Bowker Annual,""Library Journal," and other sources; characteristics of local cost studies; and the concerns involved in the systematic collection and efficient use of standardized data on cost of materials on the international, national, and local levels.
