A concise summary discusses standards for copy editing, minimal-level cataloging (MLC) to reduce backlogs and provide access to material, local policies for authority work, and policies for retrospective conversion. Documents provided in the kit include: (1) standards for copy editing from the University of Arizona, Iowa State University, and Northwestern University; (2) standards for minimum cataloging from Northwestern University and a report on minimal-level cataloging from the University of Michigan; (3) a memorandum on subject heading policy from Northwestern University; and (4) a statement on professional responsibilities of the cataloging department from Duke University. An ARL Systems and Procedures Exchange Center (SPEC) evaluation form is also included. (KM)
