  • Standards for Library of Michigan/Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped Network Libraries, 1985. Blindness Disabilities Library Circulation Library Collections Library Networks Library Personnel Library Services Library Standards Outreach Programs State Libraries Users (Information) Volunteers Designed to ensure that all Library of Michigan/Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (LM/LBPH) network libraries provide uniform, quality service to patrons in their service areas, these standards will serve both as the basis for a formal written agreement between each of the 12 network libraries and LM/LBPH, and as a minimum prerequisite in the determination of network library funding. Introductory material includes listings of members of the State of Michigan Legislative Council, Library of Michigan Board of Trustees, and 1985 Committee to Revise Standards for LM/LBPH Network Libraries; a listing of Library of Michigan administrators; a map of the LM/LBPH service areas; and a listing of the addresses and phone numbers of the LM/LBPH and Wayne County network libraries. The standards are presented in the following four parts: (1) General Responsibilities of LM/LBPH to Network Libraries; (2) General Responsibilities of LM/LBPH Network Libraries; (3) Minimum Standards; and (4) Ideal Standards. Two attachments are included: the Library of Congress National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped Sublending Agency Service Agreement for Sound Reproducers and Other Reading Equipment, and the American Library Association (ALA) Revised Standards of Service for the Library of Congress Network of Libraries for the Blind and Physically Handicapped.
