Annotated Bibliographies Audiovisual Aids Citizenship Education Computer Software Constitutional History Elementary Education Information Sources Instructional Materials Resource Materials Social Studies United States History Designed to assist Maryland school administrators, library media specialists, and teachers in selecting materials for their citizenship programs, this guide contains annotations of materials selected by local teachers, social studies supervisors, and library media specialists from across the state. The selection was based on five criteria: (1) focus on competency objectives; (2) quality of materials; (3) currentness of the selected items; (4) prior use in Maryland schools; and (5) appropriateness for citizenship education. The recommended materials are in the form of books, periodicals, pamphlets, computer software, cassettes, video cassettes, 16mm films, simulations, games, and kits for the following areas: (1) "Constitutional Government"; (2) "Principles, Rights, and Responsibilities"; and (3) "Politics and Political Behavior." A list of organizations that provide various kinds of resource materials is included. (KWL)
