Business Education Computer Literacy Computer Software Reviews Courseware Elementary Secondary Education Evaluation Methods Foreign Countries French Language Arts Library Instruction Mathematics Instruction Microcomputers Problem Solving Word Processing The sixth in a series, this report reviews microcomputer courseware authorized by the Alberta Department of Education from April 1986 through December 1986. (Although earlier publications in this series were cumulative, this edition and the fifth edition contain only new or revised reports.) This edition provides detailed evaluations of 39 authorized programs for teaching business education and sciences commercials, computer science/computer literacy, Francais and French language arts, language arts, library skills, mathematics, and problem solving. Several of the programs are in French, and both English and French subject indexes are provided as well as an index in which the titles appear in the original language; evaluations are written in the language of the program. Each evaluation includes the program title; author; producer(s); address; telephone number; grade level; contents; topics; components; hardware requirements (30 of the programs are for Apple microcomputers and seven for IBM PC/XT/AT); other formats available (not evaluated); year produced; cost; subject area; and display language. Also included are objectives; descriptions and evaluations of content, instructional format, the technical system, technical characteristics, and implementational support; a summation of the evaluation; the status of the program (basic, recommended, or supplementary); and purchase information.
