Clerical Workers Elementary Secondary Education Enrollment Expenditure per Student Food Service Geographic Regions National Surveys Paraprofessional School Personnel Public Schools Salaries School District Size School Personnel School Statistics Tables (Data) Wages This study represents the third volume of a three-part report which presents the annual salaries and hourly wage rates paid to 10 categories of support personnel for 1986-87 by surveyed school systems. A system-by-system listing conveys data concerning enrollment; the budgeted expenditure per student; the highest, lowest, and average hourly wage rates paid to teacher aides, cafeteria workers, custodians, and bus drivers; the annual salaries paid to central office secretarial and clerical personnel, including secretaries, accounting clerks, payroll clerks, and clerk typists; the annual salaries paid to secretaries and library clerks assigned to certain school buildings; and the number of people employed in each position. In addition, 23 summary tables provide information regarding the salary distribution, ranges, medians, and means of the highest, lowest, and average wage rates for selected positions; a comparison of 1986-87 data with survey results from 1985-86; the number of school districts employing personnel in each position category; and the total number of personnel reported. The summary data are given according to the geographic location and the enrollment size of the school system. (RG)
