Progress within each of five post-secondary institutions is briefly reviewed, with attention to efforts to increase the use of new technologies, improve the quality of resource material and production facilities, and extend the availability of learning opportunities to remote areas. For the five institutions, data are provided on 1984-1985 student enrollments by: student age and mode of study (fully external mode or mixed mode); study mode and field of study; and the students' home address (metropolitan or country areas) and mode of study. The percentage of males and females at each school is also reported. The following areas of concern are also discussed for each institution: institutional monitoring systems, credit transfer, library provision, telecommunications, inter-university enrollment in the external mode, and national cooperation. Degree and diploma programs and courses at each school are listed. The schools are as follows: Murdoch University, University of Western Australia, Western Australian Institute of Technology, Western Australian College of Advanced Education, and Technical Education Division of the Education Department.
