Academic Libraries Annual Reports Information Dissemination Information Processing Inservice Education Library Acquisition Library Administration Library Associations Library Collections Library Services Management Development Program Implementation Research Libraries Staff Development This report describes the following 1986 Office of Management Studies (OMS) programs and services: (1) the Academic Library Program, which includes the Management Review and Analysis Program, the Public Services Study, the Planning Program for Small Academic Libraries, the Collection Analysis Project, the Leadership Development Program, the Preservation Planning Program, the Academic Library Development Program, and the Organizational Screening Program; (2) Applied Research and Development, which provided such services for members of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) as the Collaborative Research/Writing Program, Preservation Planning Studies, the Institute on Research Libraries for Library School Faculty, the North American Collections Inventory Project, and the Canadian Collection Inventories Plan; (3) the Systems and Procedures Exchange Center (SPEC), including SPEC kits, SPEC surveys, the Automation Inventory of Research Libraries, and the Automation Expenditures Report; (4) the Training and Staff Development Program, which provided various management skills institutes and special focus workshops; and (5) the Consultant Training Program. Also included are highlights of OMS activities in 1986; OMS priorities for 1987; brief biographies of OMS staff members; a listing of Academic Library Program participants from 1973 to 1986; a list of articles and presentations by OMS staff; a list of OMS publications; an OMS publications price list/order form; a schedule of services and prices for 1986-87; and a brief financial statement.
