  • Guide to Schools and Departments of Religion and Seminaries in the United States and Canada: Degree Programs in Religious Studies. Admission Criteria Church Related Colleges College Libraries College Programs Degrees (Academic) Departments Higher Education Institutional Characteristics Program Descriptions Religious Education School Statistics Student Costs Theological Education This guide profiles 703 programs and institutions granting degrees in theology, divinity, and other fields in the study of religion and religions. Profiles, arranged by geographic location, are included from 46 states (Delaware, Idaho, Nevada and Wyoming not represented), District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and 7 Canadian provinces (Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, and Saskatchewan). In addition to describing the school or department of religion and the parent institution (when applicable), information is also provided on: campus and community environment, denominational affiliation (if any), accreditation, term system, enrollment and faculty statistics, admission requirements, costs, availability of financial aid, and housing accommodations. The library resources of the various institutions and special collections in the field of religion and theology are detailed where possible. The degree programs in religious studies are described in terms of their content and credit requirements. The descriptions often list broad groupings into which the courses fall. Special programs for clergy, lay persons, and others are briefly described. Also covered are religious services and activities that are offered to the entire student body. Addresses and phone numbers of the schools and the names of administrative officials are presented, along with institutional and denominational indexes. (SW)
