This unit was developed to enable children to: (1) identify the Great Lakes and pick out Lake Erie on a map; (2) demonstrate knowledge of Lake Erie's origin and geography; (3) list some uses of Lake Erie; and (4) give examples of how Lake Erie affects people's lives and how people affect Lake Erie. It contains background information for the teacher, factsheets, reproducible worksheets, overhead transparency masters, puzzles, survey sheets, postcard writing possibilities, word scrambles, and art activities. Included are a set of Lake Erie vocabulary cards and lists of library books and songs that deal with Lake Erie. The appendix contains pages that can be removed, laminated, and put together to make a poster. (TW)
