contents Does Computer Assisted Instruction Affect the Achievement of Third Graders in Library Skills? Iacovou, Mary Susan Comparative Analysis Computer Assisted Instruction Drills (Practice) Grade 3 Hypothesis Testing Intermode Differences Library Instruction Library Skills Pretests Posttests Primary Education This investigation of the effect of computer-assisted instruction (CAI) on the learning of library skills hypothesized that there would be a substantial difference in the achievement of library skills by those students who received additional drill and practice through the use of CAI and those who received additional drill and practice only from worksheets. Twenty-four students from a third grade class in an urban school were randomly assigned to either the experimental or control group. Results measured by a posttest revealed no significant difference in achievement between the two groups. An extensive review of related research on CAI is included, and 34 references are listed. The pre- and posttests, worksheets, and the raw score data are appended. (MES)
