Connor, Ethel Lynne Educational Media Educational Objectives Educational Resources Elementary Secondary Education Equipment Utilization Media Specialists Occupational Information Principals Program Evaluation Questionnaires Surveys Teachers This report describes an evaluation of the Dade County (Florida) Public Schools Media Services Program which was conducted to determine the extent to which the district has provided and maintained an adequate media program and the extent to which the goals of the program have been achieved. The major components of the program--the film library, textbook services, instructional television, and library/media services--are identified as the focus of the study. Descriptions of the program and the purpose and procedures of the evaluation are followed by analyses of the data and the results of surveys administered to all media specialists, all school-site administrators, and a random sample of 400 classroom teachers. Six recommendations based on these findings are also provided. The following areas are covered: (1) policies and procedures--district-level guidelines and directives used to administer implementation of the media program; (2) program inputs--resources and services available to media staff and administrators for implementation of school-level media programs; (3) program operations--activities of the administrative and media staff to achieve program goals; and (4) program services and outcomes--the media-related services received by students and instructional staff. Many tables are presented, and copies of the job analysis and media services evaluation surveys are appended. (MES) |
