contents Directory of Special Libraries and Information Centers in Texas, 1985. Gidseg, Mitchell, Ed. Budgets Consultants Databases Information Centers Information Scientists Library Automation Library Collections Library Expenditures Library Networks Library Personnel Library Services Library Surveys Questionnaires Special Libraries Based on 403 responses to a survey of the 980 libraries on the Texas State Library Mailing List, this directory is designed to describe the variety and depth of special information resources in Texas and to provide a tool for identifying special information not readily obtainable through other means. A listing of special libraries includes industry and company libraries; governmental libraries; libraries supported by non-profit organizations, associations, and institutions; special collections in public library systems; and subject divisions, departmental collections, and professional libraries in colleges and universities. Libraries are listed alphabetically by municipality or alphabetically under the name of the military base on which they are located. In addition to the library's name, address and telephone number, entries provide information on library holdings, interlibrary loan practices, photocopy services, access, availability of databases, automation, expenditures, budget, network and consortia affiliations, and employees. A second section includes consultants and information brokers, who are listed alphabetically by municipality; this listing provides the name, address, telephone number, and a brief summary of services for each entry. Indices by subject, head librarian, and institution are also provided; and the survey instrument and cover letter are appended. (KM)
