Audiodisks Blindness Books Braille Disabilities Information Centers Recreational Activities Talking Books Tourism Transportation Travel Visual Impairments This circular provides information about travel agencies, travel information centers, and transportation services based on descriptive literature provided by companies and organizations that offer services to handicapped travelers; access guides to specific cities and tourist sites are not included. The first section lists books on travel for the blind and physically handicapped, including 17 print books issued in 1982 or later and recorded and braille items. Recorded and braille titles may be borrowed by eligible residents of the United States from National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped network member libraries. Bibliographic information is provided for each entry, and brief annotations are included for print books. In addition, the names, addresses, telephone numbers, and brief descriptions of activities are provided for six information centers in the second section and for nine travel agencies in the third section. Finally, the fourth section includes descriptions of transportation services available in the United States for travel by air, automobile, bus, ship, and train (AMTRAK). Ordering information for this circular and a listing of 16 other National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped reference circulars are also provided. (KM) |
