Scott Communication Skills Computers Deafness Elementary Secondary Education Interactive Video Language Acquisition Videodisks An interactive videodisc program at the California School for the Deaf, Riverside, has been used to motivate language and reading experiences and increase communication skills. Improvement in hardware and software design over the course of the project period is noted and described. An authoring system has been developed which allows teaching language tasks using nine different types of questions, including sequencing, grammar, completion, and categorization. The school's new lab consists of 11 interactive systems with an extensive library of videodiscs in science and space, literature, entertainment, math, history, and other subjects. (CL)
