The materials in this selected list of sources of information available to the beginning researcher are then listed in nine categories: (1) bibliographies of literature about music and bibliographies of music; (2) biographical sources; (3) dictionaries and encyclopedias; (4) discographies; (5) indexes; (6) music history; (7) research guides; (8) style manuals and writing guides; and (9) thematic indexes. Brief annotations accompany the majority of the items cited, and the types of recordings and audiovisual materials available in the listening center are briefly described. (CGD) |
