contents Statistical Abstract 1987. [University of Alaska System of Higher Education]. Gaylord, Thomas A. And Others College Administration College Faculty College Planning Degrees (Academic) Educational Facilities Enrollment Trends Financial Support Higher Education Institutional Characteristics School Statistics State Surveys State Universities Statewide Planning Statistical Analysis Statistical Surveys The 1987 edition of the statistical abstract for the University of Alaska System offers data to be used by public officials, institutional administrators, and the Board of Regents in developing university programs and plans. In 1987 the University used its old organizational structure for the last time due to state funding reductions, and this abstract provides a benchmark for measuring some future effects of restructuring the system. Also, 1987 was the last year the university used batch payroll and student records data systems, and the corrections are shown within. The document is made up of data tables and divided into seven sections: (1) enrollments (statistical tables on student credit hours, credit headcount, and enrolled student state and region of origin as well as non-credit and correspondence study activity (1982-1987); (2) programs and awards (degree/certificate data for the years 1983-1987); (3) faculty and staff (1986 data); (4) facilities and space (library, building inventory, instructional space utilization, student contact hour load, and capacity of residential buildings for 1986); (5) fiscal analysis (data on restricted and unrestricted revenue, direct private gifts, state financial aid, and tuition rates for the years 1983-1987); (6) comparative statistics (data on state funding, administrative salaries, faculty salaries, tuition, and higher education prices for 1987); and (7) special projects (peer campus expenditures, Colorado's faculty allocation model applied to Alaska, and a 6-year plan survey).
