contents Trailblazers, Stargazers. Program Guide for the Texas Reading Club, 1988. Noe, Marie Authors Childrens Literature Elementary Education Films Guidelines Handicrafts Library Services Musicians Program Development Public Libraries Reading Programs Recreational Reading Scientists This guide outlines the suggested program for 1988 for the Texas Reading Club, an activity sponsored cooperatively by local libraries and the Texas State Library to encourage children and their parents to read and use the library. The general theme, "Trailblazers, Stargazers," focuses on people who do new things, go new places, experiment, explore, and create. The guide provides activities, crafts, and lists of books and films on 10 aspects of the theme: general overview activities, exploration by sea, exploration by land, inventors, space exploration, scientists, artists, authors and poets, musicians, and exploration by air. An extensive bibliography and a filmography are also provided, as well as information on publicity, bulletin board ideas and patterns, and clip art for publicity. It is noted that "A Librarian's Handbook for the Texas Reading Club" provides additional guidance for the administration and implementation of a reading club program. (EW)
