| contents | Facts about Maryland's School Library Media Programs, 1986-87. Presberry, Rosa L., Comp. And Others County School Districts Elementary Schools Elementary Secondary Education Learning Resources Centers Library Collections Library Expenditures Library Personnel Library Standards Library Statistics Private Schools Public Schools School Libraries Secondary Schools State Departments of Education State Standards Tables (Data) This compilation of statistical data on Maryland's school library media programs is designed to assist local educational agencies in examining their library media collections and staff according to the recommendations in the Criteria for Modern School Library Media Programs. Arranged alphabetically by local education agencies (LEAs), the data for the state are presented in four tables: (1) school library media collections; (2) school library equipment collections; (3) number and percentage of items by school for meeting state criteria for collections; and (4) number of schools meeting state criteria for staffing school library media centers. Data in the same four categories are then presented for each LEA. In addition, total state tabulations are presented on system level professional library media centers for the grand total collections; the print collections; the nonprint collections; the equipment collections; library media center professional and support personnel; and expenditures for textbooks and library resources. Also tabulated are the costs of local agencies' instructional materials and equipment, the media budget, and statistics on state media services provided. The last group of tables supply data on the media and equipment collections of nonpublic schools and federal and non-federal institutions together with state summaries similar to those done for public schools.
