Administrator Responsibility Archives Cultural Background Developing Nations Environmental Influences Foreign Countries Graduate Study Guidelines Information Systems Library Education Library Materials Preservation Professional Continuing Education Seminars Technological Advancement This paper discusses a seminar on the Teaching of Conservation and Preservation Management for Librarians, Archivists, and Information Scientists, which was organized jointly by the FID (Federation Internationale de Documentation), the ICA (International Council of Archives), and IFLA (International Federation of Library Associations) and held in Vienna, Austria, in April 1986. Included in the paper are: (1) definitions of the terms preservation, conservation, and restoration, as enunciated in the IFLA Statement of Principles on Preservation and Conservation (1979); (2) a brief list of facts about the 1986 Austrian seminar (purpose, program, attendance, and names of co-chairpersons); (3) reviews of 12 papers presented at the seminar; and (4) nine resolutions drafted by seminar participants.
