In "The UK Serials Group: A British Success Story," David P. Woodworth describes the background and work of the Serials Group, an autonomous British organization which aims to bridge the gap between serials producers and consumers. In "The Australian Scene: Cooperation between Libraries and with the Book Trade and Publishers," Derek Whitehead outlines the recent history of cooperation between libraries, the book-trade, and publishers, especially through the Australian Book Trade Committee, and discusses cooperation among Australian libraries in collection development. In "The Swedish Conspectus Project 'SULF'," Jan Hagerlid describes a project aimed at enhancing local capacity to formulate collection development policies. In "National Repository Planning in Scandinavia: The Result of a Seminar," Birgitta Bergdahl gives background on a 1987 seminar on national repository planning, summarizes the current situation of repository libraries in Scandinavia, and offers recommendations and warnings. In "The Acquisition Crisis in Academic Libraries: The Role of Book Price Indices in Budgetary Planning," Rolf Griebel considers the applicability of different types of price indices to budget planning with reference to Anglo-American and West German literature. In "Information Basis of International Book Exchange," Z. P. Sorokina discusses the research on the international exchange of publications. (MES)
