Following an introduction to the course, the history of clinical librarianship and several programs are described. The third section offers guidelines for setting goals and objectives for a clinical librarian program. Procedures for presenting a program for administrative approval are examined in the next section, and choosing a department for initial implementation is discussed in section 5. The sixth section covers the development of policies and procedures, including a list of specific items to considered in documenting procedures. A checklist of areas of potential difficulties is presented in the seventh section.
