  • Library Literacy Program Project. Final Financial Status and Performance Report. Martin, Anna L. Adult Literacy American Indians Computer Assisted Instruction County Libraries Grants Hearing Impairments Hispanic Americans Microcomputers Migrant Workers Performance Factors Staff Development Tutors Volunteers Womens Education The final financial status and performance report for a library literacy program project at the Yuma City-County Library (Arizona) begins with a brief statement of general information about the grant. This is followed by a narrative report that delineates the goal of the project--for the library to take a leadership role in developing, implementing, and coordinating an adult literacy program in Yuma County--and explains how it was accomplished. The eight objectives of the project are then outlined: (1) to expand the scope and availability of literacy materials; (2) to expand support for the Yuma Reading Council; (3) to expand language literacy services to the Hispanic population; (4) to expand literacy programs and services to women; (5) to expand literacy programs to migrant farm workers and Native Americans; (6) to expand services to the hearing impaired; (7) to hire a Literacy Coordinator for the duration of the grant cycle; and (8) to involve and train volunteers and staff for participation in literacy programs. Activities engaged in to meet each of these objectives are listed and the overall results of the project are discussed. Information on workshops held and a summary of library materials purchased with grant money conclude the report. Copies of two of the "coping kits" ("Filling Out a Job Application" and "Preparing a Resume") which were produced as part of the grant project are attached, together with a software bibliography that was developed for use with the computer-assisted learning portion of the project.
