Following a brief statement of purpose, the second section discusses information needs and the library. Term paper research is addressed in the third section, which covers defining the topic, finding background information using reference sources, finding books using the online catalog, finding periodicals using indexes, finding research reports using ERIC/Resources in Education, and compiling a bibliography. The next section discusses research for developing lesson plans--choosing a topic and using the Alberta Program of Studies, curriculum guides, Buyers Guide, and other resources. In the fifth section, topics related to borrowing library materials are considered--loan periods, fines, reserves/recalls/searches, reserve room, and items-on-loan microfiche. Questions for an assignment to be turned in for grading after the student has completed the workbook are included in appropriate places in the text. Library floor plans, a workbook evaluation form, and answer keys are included. (MES)
