Roy, Loriene Bibliographies Course Descriptions Higher Education Homework Humanities Library Education Online Searching Reading Assignments Reference Materials Search Strategies Textbooks Workbooks Basic course information and worksheets are presented in this textbook/workbook for "Information Resources in the Humanities," a course offered by the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at the University of Texas at Austin. The guide is divided into eight sections. The first presents the syllabus, lists assignments (e.g., online searches, pathfinder construction, and a term paper), and supplies a 62-item reading list of general sources for the semester. The remainder of the text is composed of seven study units. Each unit consists of a reading list of topic-specific resources including guides, bibliographies, indexes, directories, biographies, statistics, and databases; a worksheet; and an online search problem. Unit I is different in format from the other units because, in addition to its corresponding reading list and homework assignment, it includes an introduction to and overview of the humanities. This introduction presents ideas and theories about knowledge, and explores the concept of the humanities. The remaining units focus on: philosophy; religion, mythology and the occult; music; literature; fine arts; and the performing arts. (SD)
