Access to Information Computer Networks Databases Library Automation Library Cooperation Library Networks Library Services Library Standards Planning Commissions Program Implementation Shared Resources and Services Statewide Planning Based in part on the work of three task forces, this report presents recommendations from the Phase II Statewide Automation Committee appointed in June 1987 to develop specific steps to implement the 20 recommendations in the library automation plan issued in May 1987, "Libraries and Technology: A Strategic Plan for the Use of Advanced Technologies for Library Resource Sharing in New York State." The steps are outlined under four headings: (1) steps requiring new funding levels acquired through new legislative initiatives; (2) steps to be carried out by the Library Development Division, other agencies, and the library community in programs and pilot projects funded primarily by present pools of state and Library Services and Construction Act (LSCA) Title III funds; (3) steps requiring changes or amendments to current Library Development Division regulations or guidelines; and (4) steps involving nonfinancial issues such as endorsement. Alternatives for two of the original recommendations are also described. The report includes: a list of the members of the Phase II Committee and the three task forces (the Criteria Task Force, the Linkage Standards Task Force, and the Telecommunications Task Force); and the complete text of the "Libraries and Technology" report.
