- ACRL Member Survey: November, 1989. Academic Libraries Higher Education Library Associations Library Personnel Library Surveys Professional Development Questionnaires Research Libraries The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) commissioned Research USA, Inc., to conduct a survey of 468 of their individual members in order to find out more about them, their libraries, and their involvement with ACRL. Some of the specific areas studied in the survey include: (1) the type and place of their employment; (2) their memberships within the American Library Association (ALA) and other discipline-related associations; (3) their opinions on critical issues facing libraries; (4) their perceptions of the value of ACRL activities; (5) their readership of ACRL publications; (6) their involvement in purchasing and budgeting responsibility; (7) their attendance at national conventions; (8) their interest in educational activities; (9) their contacts with ACRL; (10) their local chapter memberships; (11) their participation in discussion groups; and (12) their demographic characteristics. Findings of the study are reported in the form of graphs and tables. The original survey instrument is included. (GL)
