Cooperative Planning Government Role Guidelines Library Administration Library Automation Library Cooperation Library Development Library Networks Library Services Library Standards Long Range Planning Master Plans Questionnaires Shared Library Resources State Libraries State Programs Statewide Planning Worksheets The Long Range Plan was prepared to satisfy requirements of the Library Services Construction Act (LSCA) and to guide the Texas State Library and Archives Commission in the fulfillment of its statutory mission. The plan provides a framework for the establishment or expansion of programs to carry out the purposes mandated by the state and federal governments. The first four chapters provide: (1) an overview of the Statewide Development Program of the Texas State Library; (2) an assessment of the current situation of libraries; (3) the goals and objectives for improving library services in the coming years; and (4) cost estimates are given to close the gap between current levels of service and standards. The appendixes following Chapter 4 provide more detailed information about: (1) the Automation and Resource Sharing Plan; (2) Library Automation Standards; (3) Evaluation and Criteria (guidelines, forms, and reports); (4) Dissemination of LSCA Information; (5) Coordination of LSCA Programs with Institutions of Higher Education and Public Schools; and (6) policies and procedures for allocating LSCA Title I, Title II, and Title III funds.
