The publication opens with general information about the Texas State Library, and a map of the major resource systems, followed by a directory of Texas public libraries. The statistics for each library, which are arranged alphabetically by city name and grouped into tables, are then presented. They identify: (1) the library status, outlets, and users; (2) expenditures; (3) income; (4) collections; (5) local services; (6) technology and resource sharing; and (7) staffing and salaries. Summary statistics are compiled by region and by county. A list of board chairpersons of public libraries, presidents of friends of library groups, and a sample 1988 annual report form are appended.
