The curriculum is based on the assumption that adult students deserve a broad, well-rounded education. The guide also discusses teaching techniques and some teaching theory. The guide is organized in five sections. First comes a general discussion about teaching reading and writing skills. The second part of the guide describes books in six subject areas: grammar, literature, history, science, mathematics, and General Educational Development (GED). For each subject area, some recommended textbooks are described along with techniques for using them. Full bibliographic information for these books follows this section.
