contents Fact Book on Library Aid 1991. Budgets Elementary Secondary Education Financial Needs Financial Policy Financial Support Library Networks Public Libraries Research Libraries School Libraries Special Libraries State Federal Aid State Legislation This booklet presents information about the financial support authorized for libraries and library systems in Chapter 917 of the "Laws of 1990" and advocated by the Regents of the State University of New York for the state's library systems. It is noted that, although Chapter 917 provides for increases in library aid of $5 million each year for the years 1991-1992, the Regents have advocated legislative action in 1991 for the full appropriation and release of all library and library systems aid currently authorized in statute. Tables highlight the financial support requested by the Board of Regents, and the gap between the 1991/1992 funding allocated by the New York State executive budget and that which is required by current law is indicated for each library system. Tables display data on state support requested for public libraries and library systems; reference and research library resources systems; school library systems; coordinated collection development; medical/hospital library systems; regional database/automation systems; preservation/conservation systems; the New York Historical Society; and the New York State Library for the Blind and Visually Handicapped.
