The data were obtained from forms mailed to individual institutions. The tables are grouped under 11 headings the first of which is enrollment. This section presents data on headcount by institution, class, level of instruction, sex, age distribution, transfers, in-state and out-of-state status, home county, summer school, foreign students, racial composition, and extension credit enrollment. A section on enrollment trends offers information on percentage change by institution, residence status, percentages of out-of-state enrollment, level of instruction, and county and state of origin. A section on undergraduate transfers shows information by type of institution. The section on degrees conferred lists data by field of study, institution, level of degree, sector, race, and sex. Faculty data covers academic rank, sex, and highest degree held. Data on library resources include resources and operating expenditures. Costs to students data includes undergraduate tuition and fees by institution, required fees, costs in first professional degree programs, and costs to graduate students. Twelve tables cover aspects of admissions. Student financial aid data includes student employment and financial aid services. Student housing data covers capacity and utilization. Fifteen figures are also included. Appendixes offer information on data sources, term definitions, discipline categories, and definitions. (JB)
