Introductory materials include a glossary of intellectual freedom terms which was adopted by the Intellectual Freedom Committee of the American Library Association. Section Two provides two statements developed by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) that are particularly appropriate to intellectual freedom as well as summaries of the following school philosophies and procedures: materials selection policy, inservice training, communication and public information policies, materials reconsideration procedures, and procedures for teachers to handle complaints about classroom materials. Section Three is a selected annotated bibliography of materials discussing issues of intellectual freedom. Section Four presents the Wisconsin statutes that reflect the philosophy of freedom and equity in education. A series of intellectual freedom statements and interpretations of the Library Bill of Rights are provided in Section Five. Concluding the report is an annotated list of state agencies, state associations, and national associations to contact for assistance with an intellectual freedom issue. (MAB)
