The guide gives particular emphasis to a carefully organized, rich environment. Part 1 addresses aspects of supervision, and discusses: (1) issues related to introducing the curriculum to administrators, staff, and parents, including the standards of the profession and the advantages of an environmentally based curriculum; (2) issues concerning working with staff, including self-motivation, teacher evaluation, and conferences; and (3) classroom visits as a way to support teachers in implementation of the curriculum. Part 2 provides specific workshop outlines and handouts for providing training sessions on the Creative Curriculum. Subject matter includes workshop strategies and outlines for eight specific workshops. Block workshops provide teachers with an opportunity to discover the many values of block play in the classroom. House corner workshops focus on dramatic play. Sand and water workshops help teachers and parents to appreciate the value of these materials in children's learning and development. The other workshop outlines are outdoor play, library, art, table toy and setting the stage workshops. (GLR) |
