- Researching International Law. Kennedy, Ann Academic Libraries Books Databases Graduate Students Higher Education Information Seeking International Law Library Guides Library Services Periodicals Reference Materials Reference Services Treaties Undergraduate Students Designed for the undergraduate student who is doing research on public international law and graduate students in fields other than law, this guide is specifically addressed to students at San Francisco State University, although the resources discussed are typical of those to be found in a medium-sized academic library. The guide is divided into the following sections, each of which includes photocopied examples from the materials discussed: (1) beginning research with dictionaries and encyclopedias; (2) locating books; (3) locating periodical articles; (4) international conventions and treaty research; (5) judicial decisions and arbitral awards; and (6) teachings of the most qualified publicists. The section on international conventions and treaties is the longest in the guide, covering definitions, compendia, indexes to treaty collections, electronic databases, treaties to which the United States may not be party, texts of treaties, and international, regional, and nongovernment organizations.
