- Interlibrary Loan Trends: Making Access a Reality. SPEC Kit 184. Dearie, Tammy Nickelson Steel, Virginia Facsimile Transmission Higher Education Interlibrary Loans Library Administration Library Policy Library Statistics Library Surveys Public Libraries Research Libraries Shared Library Resources This Systems and Procedures Exchange Center (SPEC) kit reports results of a survey of 82 Association of Research Libraries (ARL) institutions conducted in early 1992 in order to gather information on interlibrary loan by examining a number of operation and management changes that are occurring and the steps that might be taken to ease the pressure of the rapidly increasing volume of interlibrary loan activity. Data are reported on interlibrary loan lending and borrowing practices, resource-sharing agreements, automation in interlibrary loan, commercial document suppliers, and user-initiated interlibrary loan. The following related documents from several ARL libraries are included: (1) interlibrary loan statistics from three libraries; (2) interlibrary loan policies and procedures from seven libraries; (3) interlibrary loan reports and manuals from three libraries; (4) telefacsimile policies and procedures from four libraries; and (5) descriptions of electronic document delivery request systems from five libraries; (6) and resource-sharing and cooperative agreements from nine libraries.
