It focuses on topics parents must deal with in meeting the needs of their children. Vocabulary and practice drills are presented for activities in the following areas: (1) education and dealing with the school system; (2) parenting; (3) nutrition; (4) mathematics; (5) health; (6) safety; and (7) citizenship. The section on education provides information on school organization, registration, forms that must be completed, communication with teachers, and reading student report cards. The parenting skills emphasized are those of interacting with children and of coping with systems that can have an impact on children, such as the public library. Illustrations present scenarios of everyday activities with discussion questions in the primary language. In most instances, parallel English and Spanish exercises are provided. (SLD)
