Although by no means a definitive list of sources, it can provide a starting point and remind students of the many disciplines in which one can study the achievements of black Americans. In general, indexes and reference sources are listed for the following categories, with additional sources detailed when available: (1) general reference sources; (2) biographies; (3) current events; (4) government publications; (5) statistics; (6) armed forces; (7) art; (8) education; (9) history; (10) literature; (11) music; (12) political science; (13) psychology and sociology; (14) religion; (15) business; and (16) science and technology.
