The use of automation in the university libraries, which made the changes possible, and the total reorganization of the structure of work routines and administrative structure are described. The planning process that preceded implementation, the approach to a division of labor, training existing staff and hiring new staff to fit the new scheme, the participation of paraprofessionals, supervisory issues, and future plans are among the topics covered. Brief descriptions of holistic approaches at other academic libraries are included. (Contains 22 references.) (KRN) |
