- Training Modules for Interlibrary Lending and Document Supply. Cornish, Graham P. College Curriculum Course Content Departments Foreign Countries Higher Education Interlibrary Loans Lesson Plans Library Associations Library Cooperation Library Education Library Schools Library Services School Surveys Shared Library Resources Training Units of Study The training of library staff in interlending and document supply, an area often overlooked in library education and training programs, is explored, beginning with a survey of library associations and a range of schools and departments of library and information science. Responses from approximately 20 associations and 103 schools form a basis for examining existing training programs and activities worldwide. The problems of interlending are discussed; and the objectives, structure, and content of appropriate training modules are outlined. The modules are suggested to provide a sketch of the essential elements in training for interlending at all levels, but are not meant to be a total package for training. A discussion of the practical aspects of interlending and document supply contains seven examples of references that can cause problems for the interlending librarian. An appendix contains some internationally agreed-on codes of practice and procedures in international lending. (Contains 96 references.) (SLD)
