- The Electronic Doorway Library: Meeting the Information Needs of the People of New York State. Access to Information Electronic Libraries Information Technology Integrated Library Systems Library Automation Library Development Library Networks Library Planning Library Services State Programs User Needs (Information) This document, like its predecessor, will serve as a blueprint for and a means of communication about statewide library automation. The original plan introduced the concept of the electronic doorway library as a way to explain the changes occurring in the delivery of library services. Through 14 assumptions, 32 recommendations, and implementation guidelines, the new plan further develops this concept as the mechanism by which libraries in New York will be best able to serve their users in the developing networked world. The electronic doorway concept captures the idea of what libraries in New York are becoming or should become. Appendix A presents the electronic doorway implementation guidelines, while appendixes B, C, D, and E present an application form, a glossary, standards and protocols, and a list of committee members.
