A survey conducted on a random sample of college and university students working at Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio, during the summer of 1990 was designed to determine the type and amount of library instruction each student has received and if he or she found or would find it beneficial. The significance of a student's field of study and the size of the library used were considered in relationship to his or her attitude. To supplement the survey, interviews were conducted to gather more detailed information about what students know about certain library resources and what skills they possess. The findings of this survey may assist librarians who are responsible for planning bibliographic instruction programs in demonstrating the practicality of the material and perhaps stimulating interest in the topic. Included in the appendices are the questionnaire; the interview schedule; and a tally sheet showing number of respondents for each item. (Contains 10 references.) (JLB) |
