Information literate people are those who have learned how to learn because they know how knowledge is organized, how to find it, and how to use it so that others can learn from them. Australia faces strong competition to remain a viable competitor in the international market. The new types of education and education delivery systems that are developing are essential to the nation's preparedness in the age of information literacy. Research has identified competencies that are required for the information literate. Library activities conducted by TAFE college libraries in Australia are summarized. A major accomplishment is the development of teaching modules in the area of information literacy. Pilot versions have been forwarded to all TAFE libraries in Queensland for testing and evaluation.
